Contrary to popular belief, the Sabbath is not on Saturday or Sunday. Many people find it hard to believe or comprehend what the Lunar Sabbath is all about. Some Lunar Sabbatarians start the New Moon at the sight of the first crescent, and some even on the full moon. Neither of these are Biblically correct.

How could it be that on every eighth day of the month there is a Sabbath when there were six days of creation and Yah rested on the seventh? The answers are in scripture, we just need to look.

Isaiah 66:23 And it shall come to pass, that from one New Moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD.

The ancient Hebrews used the sky for a clock. Instead of using the sun to measure the year like the current pagan Gregorian Roman calendar does, the ancient Hebrews used the stars. The moon was used to tell the months, the sun to tell the day, and the stars to tell the years.

It would seem to make sense the moon would be used for months since there are four/seven day quarters in each complete phase of the moon and twelve complete phases in a year, and thirteen on a leap year.

The New Moon days are treated like Sabbath days known as feast days as we can see in 1 Samuel 20:24 when David was hiding from king Saul during a two day New Moon feast for fear of being killed.

1 Samuel 20:24 So David hid himself in the field: and when the New Moon was come, the king sat him down to eat meat.

So what's up with the eight days?

Well, lets take another look at Genesis 1:1.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the Heaven and the Earth.

There is this CREATION, THEN there is ANOTHER six working days of CREATION, then Yahs rest on the seventh day. In Genesis 1:5 the first day mentioned is the day counted abstract from the darkness. The REAL first day is Genesis 1:1 when Yah created the Heaven and the Earth.

No moon can be found on the New Moon day. Light was already created in day one of creation. Then, in Genesis 1:14 light was APPOINTED as luminaries.

There is overwhelming Biblical evidence to support the Lunar Sabbath. For example, such as the manna falling from heaven when Yah is teaching Moses and His children to follow His Sabbath and to rest on the eighth day. I will provide a more comprehensive and in depth study at a different time.

For now we have established SEVEN days of creation and rest on the EIGHTH day. The New Moon day doesn't count as an ordinary working day, it was held in high regard, being treated as another Sabbath day. There are either twenty-nine or thirty days in every moon cycle. Meaning the Sabbaths fall on the eighth, fifteenth, twenty-second, and twenty-ninth days of the month, followed by a one-day or two-day NEW MOON.

There is a break in the seven day count just like the Jubilee declares every seventy years!

Below are some more scriptures bringing to light the same Sabbath like worship for Sabbaths and New Moons together.

Psalm 81:3 Blow up the trumpet in the New Moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.

1 Chronicles 23:31 And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto YAHUAH in the Sabbaths, in the New Moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the YAHUAH:

Ezekiel 46:1 Thus saith the Lord GOD; The gate of the inner court that looketh toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the Sabbath it shall be opened, and in the day of the New Moon it shall be opened.

Ezekiel 46:3 Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the door of this gate before YAHUAH in the Sabbaths and in the New Moons.

Ezekiel 46:6 And in the day of the New Moon it shall be a young bullock without blemish, and six lambs, and a ram: they shall be without blemish.

1 Samuel 20:5 And David said unto Jonathan, Behold, to morrow is the New Moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field unto the third day at even.

1 Samuel 20:24 So David hid himself in the field: and when the New Moon was come, the king sat him down to eat meat.

KJV 1 Samuel 20:27 And it came to pass on the morrow, which was the second day of the month, that David's place was empty: and Saul said unto Jonathan his son, Wherefore cometh not the son of Jesse to meat, neither yesterday, nor to day?

Amplified Bible 1 Samuel 20:27 But on the next day, the second day of the New Moon, David’s place was empty [again]; and Saul said to Jonathan his son, “Why has the son of Jesse not come to the meal, either yesterday or today?”

So enjoy this two day New Moon! Set aside these three significant days for spiritual rest. We will send out our next Sabbath study on May 26th at evening, the eighth day of the third month.

This ends the seventh Sabbath from the Passover, we will then count 50 days to Pentecost, which will be the evening of July 6th! Pentecost is the second of three Biblical feast commanded by Yahuah, the Firstfruits of the Wheats Harvest, which commemorates the giving of the Law on Mount Sinai in accordance with the giving of the Holy Spirit to the disciples.

Leviticus 23:16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto YAHUAH.
