Happy New Year!

The Sabbath Recall

Happy Biblical New Year!

Exodus 12:2 This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.

Did creation begin in spring time? Or in the dead of winter?

Some people say that the Old Testament is dead and gone away with. I think this is a dangerous and ignorant belief that we are taught from many church leaders in our age. I like to use Bible as a whole. The New Testament is just an inversion of the Old Testament. Everything that was outward in the Old testament is now inward and inscribed on our hearts.

No I do not believe in stoning women or marrying multiple wives. But I do believe what God says. All the 600+ laws from the Old Testament were branched off the Ten Commandments. These laws were meant to purge the wickedness from the nation of Israel and lead Gods people back to His law, the Ten Commandments. Now, we practice purging the wickedness from our hearts with Gods Grace from His Son. Jesus uses two commandments to lead His nation of Israel back to Gods original Ten Commandments. The nation of Israel and Gods chosen people are now those who call on Christ. It is no longer that physical nation in the Middle East.

The first commandment is to "Love God with all our heart mind and soul". Matthew 22:37 Here is how God tells us to love Him:

  1. You shall have no other Gods before me

  2. Do not make any graven image or idols

  3. Do not take my name in vain

  4. Remember the Sabbath day and keep it Holy

The second commandment is to "Love our neighbor as ourselves" Matthew 22:39 Here is how God tells us to love our neighbor:

5. Honor your Father and Mother 6. Do not kill 7. Do not commit adultery 8. Do not steal 9. Do not lie 10. Do not covet

Matthew 22:40 "All the law and the prophets hang on these two commandments."

God truly commands us to love because He is Love. So to follow the Sabbath and to follow the Biblical holidays and the Biblical Lunar calendar is not a Hebrew Roots cult, or a new road for salvation, or to be better than anyone. It is a way to be set a part in a world who has left our Father and His ways. The Bible says His children will search for the old ways and return to them.

Jeremiah 6:16 Ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls.

John15:10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love; even as I have kept my Fathers commandments, and abide in His love.

To keep the Biblical New Year is just another way to be set apart and follow the design God has originally set forth.

Have a blessed New Year and we will see you again next week!
