Hundreds of years before the Irish celebrated their festival, the Druids (priests of the Celtic people) held a festival to celebrate their new year at the end of summer as the sun was dying. The Druid festival was called Samhain and it was held to honor their many gods – their sun god in particular. The Druids were the first “trick or treaters,” for they roamed the countryside going from castle to castle demanding a “treat” of human victims for their festival sacrifices. If no “treat” was given to these pagan marauders, they would play a “trick” on the castle inhabitants. Before the night was over, someone in the castle would die of fright! The Druids, however, did not originate the festival of Samhain! The first Halloween ritual was celebrated thousands of years ago in the post-Flood world in Mesopotamia (now called Iraq). While we do not know the exact name of this ancient festival, we do know that it involved worship of fire and serpents; astrology; witchcraft; magic; communicating with the spirits of the dead; and human sacrifice. The first of these festivals was instituted by Nimrod at the Tower of Babel. Nimrod was a mighty leader of the Babylonian people and he persuaded them that he was a god who had come down to earth and as such, was to be worshipped. Nimrod, along with his wife, founded what the Bible refers to as Mystery Babylon – a pagan, false religious system that included worship of many gods and goddesses, fire, serpents, the sun and moon, and the planets.

Halloween is here. And this is another of several years in which my wife and I once again won't send our kids out for trick or treat, to play dress up, or even to carve pumpkins...but why won't we?

Would Yahusha celebrate Halloween?

If you say He would...why would He? And if you say He wouldn't...why wouldn't He?

I'm one of those people who would say that He would most definitely NOT. But lets see what scripture says.

Halloween is of pagan origin, we all know that. It is the celebration of witches, magic, the dead, and all things evil. The origin of Halloween plays a major role in CHILD SACRIFICE. They would lock little children in wicker baskets and burn them alive to their sun-gods.

‘But what's a little fun’ right? ‘That's just your opinion.’ ‘It's just candy anyways,’ and ‘Jesus can see my heart.’ This is the main response I get from other Christians on this subject.

'So, is it my opinion that Halloween is pagan or it is FACT?"

Deuteronomy 12:30 ...'take heed to yourself that you are not ensnared to follow them, after they are destroyed from before you, and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, ‘How did these nations serve their gods? I also will do likewise.’

Over and over again in scripture Yah warns His children not to follow after the customs and practices of the surrounding nations before them.

And over and over the children of Israel disobey Yah their Elohim and stray from His commands and find themselves in the midst of pagan practices. They are constantly delivered into the hands of their enemies for their actions.

How could they do such a thing? How is that possible? I'm willing to bet that it looked a whole lot like it does today. Most Christians in our modern era don't even think twice about Halloween, or its origins from 'Samhain.'

We've become so accustomed to all of these pagan practices in which were are surrounded, that we don't even know we are surrounded!

Leviticus 18:1-5 Then Yahuah spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them: ‘I am YAHUAH your Elohim. According to the doings of the land of Egypt, where you dwelt, you shall not do; and according to the doings of the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you, you shall not do; nor shall you walk in their ordinances. You shall observe My judgments and keep My ordinances, to walk in them: I am YAHUAH your Elohim. You shall therefore keep My statutes and My judgments, which if a man does, he shall live by them: I am YAHUAH.

Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.

2 Corinthians 6:15, 16 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: “I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.”

As Yahs' children we are to be set apart from the world. In fact, we are commanded to do it. And what better way to be set apart than to refuse to take part in any pagan customs or traditions.

We have our sacred appointments with Yah already. That's literally what the Hebrew translation of appointed feasts means...we have our set appointments with God Himself! Why do we need to follow pagan customs?

We have a God who yearns for us so deeply that He gave His very own Son for us. He wants us to want Him and He is looking for those who do. How can we get closer to Him by taking part in a walk that holds hands with the devils customs and Yahs on the other?

We can't. It's as simple as that.

I would think twice about celebrating Halloween or any pagan custom this year. It used to be a very real and scary celebration full of death of the innocent. That is why it exists.

Pray about it, and ask yourself...Would Jesus Celebrate Halloween?
