The Sabbath Recall

King James Version Matthew 5: 19

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

ós eán oún lýsi mían tón entolón toúton tón elachíston kaí didáxi oútos toús anthrópous, eláchistos klithísetai en tí vasileía tón ouranón: ós d' án poiísi kaí didáxi, oútos mégas klithísetai en tí vasileía tón ouranón.

So then, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do likewise will be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven, but whoever practices and teaches [them] will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven

Salkinson Ginsburg Hebrew Matthew 5: 19 (Read Left To Right)

Lakhen khlhmfyr achat m'matzot kat'nut eleh v'horah kazot laanashiym nklh yik'ra bamal'khut hashׁamayim v'heaseh eten um'lamed lshvtn n'khabed yik'ra bamal'khut hashׁamayim

Therefore all who break one of the least of these commandments and order mankind likewise will proclaim contempt in the Kingdom of Heavens, if you will do them and teach to do them (you) will proclaim rich in the Kingdom of Heavens.

In this verse Jesus distinguishes the least from the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven and how to gain such an honor. It is no secret the disciples argued more than once on several occasions about which of them would be the greater in the Kingdom of Heaven. For Jesus to say something like this He gave them a clear instruction on how to achieve such a goal. Not only them but us also.

I pray for any pastor preaching the death of the law to his congregation. They have crossed a very fine line. In our last couple studies I showed how the 10 commandments hang on the 2 greatest commandments given, to love God and to love our neighbor. I showed how God has simply inverted His law. It is no longer a physical law but a spiritual law, yet still the same.

Love and the Law go hand in hand. There is not one without the other as you will find in Psalms 119. We are not only to follow Gods Law but we are also supposed to LOVE IT. Gods Law cuts down to the deepest marrow of the bones and directs our hearts to walk towards righteousness and justice. Gods Law brings to light all of our wrong doing and there is no hiding from it. His Law is not burdensome and we are to love it with all our hearts.

The Bible makes it certain that to love God is to keep His commandments. To love Jesus is to obey Him. God loves obedience. When we love God, we will obey Him. We will listen when the Holy Spirit is within us poking at something that just doesn't seem quite right. His Law is a straight and narrow line.

John 14:21 Whoever has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me. The one who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and reveal Myself to him.

John 14:23 Jesus replied, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.

John 15:10 If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and remain in His love.

1 John 2:3 By this we can be sure that we have come to know Him: if we keep His commandments.

1 John 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome,

2 John 1:6 And this is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the very commandment you have heard from the beginning, that you must walk in love.

His Word is very clear. His law is not dead nor will it ever be. We must obey His commandments if we love Him and want to know Him. Jesus ministry was all about love, and how to love God and each other. There truly has not been a greater love story since the beginning of time. We must ask ourselves. Do I love God? Do I obey Him?
