33. Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

34. But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:

The Book of Jubilees, an ancient text which details the history of the division of the Laws of Moses, is presented here complete. The text discusses the laws revealed to Moses and treats his character as a second creator of the world. Each chapter covers a range of history spanning 49 years, with Moses life story and other principal events told over a course of 2,410 years. Perhaps most importantly from a theological perspective, the book discusses the angels and how these entities formed a vital component of the Earth's creation. Enoch was taught by fallen angels; through them, he discovered writing and history. ​Sabbath Bible Study

“You have heard that is was said to the ancients”...Numbers 30:1-16​

One story in particular from the Bible comes to my mind when it comes to making promises, especially to God. This is the story of Jephthah from Judges 11, who in the middle of battle, promised to God he would sacrifice "the first thing to meet him from the door of his home" if God would deliver his enemies into his hands.

It turned out to be his daughter, his only child who had met him when he returned home from battle victorious in war.

Of course, we know such a sacrifice is an abomination to God. This is a good example of what not to do. Not that we would commonly offer such a promise to God in our time but, maybe we make promises hoping for an exchange of something else we wish for that we know God could provide.

We know that's not how God works.

Yahusha makes this clear when He says, "swear not at all." The meaning of keeping your promises could also be interpreted as being a man of your word...to stand behind your word and to do the things you say you're going to do.

Such is a character God desires, and with such a character there is no need to make promises.

I would also like to point out the translation difference between the Masoretic Hebrew translation and the Greek translation of Gods name. In English and in Greek His name is translated as 'Lord.' In the Hebrew His name is translated as Jehovah.

None of these are correct. 'Lord' is an earthly title and can also be translated as 'sir.’ This title was most commonly used in ancient times for titling pagan gods such as Baal.

'Jehovah' is a modern translation of the Hebrew name of God and is the root for Yehovah or Yahweh. These names are Babylonian and we’re not used in ancient times. It is similar but it is not correct. His correct name is YAHUAH, “Behold, Hand, Behold, Nail.” The letter 'J' is barely 600 years old, and was first used for titling the 'Jester' or 'Joker' of a Kings entertainment.

YAHUAH is the ancient Hebrew name of God. After Yahusha (Jesus) was crucified, the Pharisees and Scribes (Preachers and Lawyers) adulterated much of the Hebrew language and that modern translation is what is used mostly today.

To swear by heaven, which is Gods throne, is an authority we don't have. We are not the makers of nor the caretakers of it, and it belongs to our Creator. We cannot make the sun rise or the clouds to go away. We cannot make the rain come or the stars to stay still.

It is all governed by God.

This week let us focus on our character and letting Yahusha be the example of character we need to become. More of Him and less of us, that all our ways may please the Father through His only Son and His sacrifice made for us, saving us from ourselves.

P.S. Many people are misinformed about studying these things. They think it is pagan or part of the occult. Nothing could be further from the Truth. Worshipping creation is one thing, but recognizing our connection with it is another. That is of course how God created us. Everyone is born naked. The entire system we live in is man made and has disconnected us from Gods creation. The devil cannot create anything. He is a copycat. Instead, he has taken the Fathers creation and has perverted it, and Christians have been led astray from learning from it. So take the step, and dive deep with me.

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

John 16:13 However, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all Truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
