THE SABBATH RECALL

Shabbat Shalom!

Today at sunrise begins the 22nd day of the 8th month! An appointed Sabbath!

Isaiah 66:23 And it shall come to pass That from one New Moon to another, And from one Sabbath to another, All flesh shall come to worship before Me,” says YAHUAH.

Ezekiel 46:3 Likewise the people of the land shall worship at the entrance to this gateway before YAHUAH on the Sabbaths and the New Moons.

2. Therefore when thou doest thine alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

οὖν Ὅταν ποιῇς ἐλεημοσύνην σαλπίσῃς μὴ ἔμπροσθέν σου ὥσπερ οἱ ὑποκριταὶ ποιοῦσιν ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς καὶ ἐν ταῖς ῥύμαις ὅπως δοξασθῶσιν ὑπὸ ἀνθρώπων ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ἀπέχουσιν αὐτῶν μισθὸν

Oun Hotan poiēs eleēmosynēn salpisēs mē emprosthen sou hōsper hoi hypokritai poiousin en tais synagōgais kai en tais rhymais hopōs doxasthōsin hypo anthrōpōn amēn legō hymin apechousin autōn misthon

2. So when you give to the needy do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be praised by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their reward.

2. Therefore, when you do charity, do not make a noise before you when the flatterers do in the synagogues and in the streets so that they can gain honor in the eyes of men. Amen, I say to you, here is their reward before them.

Yahusha warns in this verse against giving as the Pharisees gave. It was literally made into a ceremony. They would sound real trumpets, and play music to the tune of money shaking in a cup.

It was a self righteous ritual for them.

Their real intention was to bring all the attention to their giving. To bring self glory rather than glory to God. Just as we saw with the last verse.

Do not make a stage to play an act of giving to put on a show for yourself. The attention is the only reward you will get.

Give out of the goodness of your heart and let God be the only one who will see it.
